Meet the team

Neil
Role-Director
Location-Haworth

Get Shrewd came about following my redundancy at the start of the pandemic. Not only did I lose my employment, I was also witnessing local businesses really struggle.

I’ve enjoyed a great career in the legal sector. Dealing with governance and compliance means analysing detail at every step. This has given me the ability to drill things down to the nitty gritty and then focus on making the changes in businesses that are really needed.

Get Shrewd was born out of a desire to ensure the future of the businesses in my local area, whilst providing myself and other people with an income. There was a real ‘shoulder to shoulder’ stance as we battled together to get through.

I was told on more than one occasion I was nuts to invest in a new business at such a bad time and I admit, I sometimes doubted myself too. But here we are, helping people to earn or save money and keep their homes and businesses.

We may have started this with a predominant focus on the area surrounding my home but good news (and good service) spreads quickly.

Soon I took on Bex to help manage the workload and then we moved into Lancashire when Andy came on board.

Now we have clients and team members across the country and I am so proud of what we have achieved in the last couple of years.
If you want an opportunity to enhance your income and your life then please do speak to me.

I love working for Get Shrewd, it’s a business built on the same ethics I hold as a person. We believe in doing the right thing for people. Working and managing a business is hard enough without unnecessary pressure, we help to reduce that.

If something isn’t right for the customer, then we don’t do it. We want to build a business based on trust, honesty and loyalty.

I manage activities across the business and ensure compliance at every stage. The team rely on my organisational skills and nothing has honed those more than being a Mum of 2 girls and a very active puppy Ember.

The team are like family, they have given me the support, energy and flexibility to manage my work life and home life perfectly. This means I can spend as much time with my girls as I need as well as earning a good living. I’m proud to be part of a company that values life experience as well as work experience.

If you are looking for a way to earn without taking too much time away from your personal commitments then I do recommend you contact us.

Andy
Role – Sales Director
Location – Chorley

I have always worked in sales. Predominantly in utilities. It can be seen as a ‘pushy’ or competitive type of job and years ago it really was. Get Shrewd embodies the shift towards what is right for the customer rather than the salesperson.

I was lucky to be taught that listening to the customer’s needs and finding the right product or service for them is more important than a short-term gain. I have really focussed on ensuring our sales team hold this belief to heart.

When a current client refers someone to us, it is because we have treated them well, understood their needs and helped them to achieve their goals. That for me is truly a sign of a sterling, client-centric business.

If your sales values align with ours get in touch.

Having years of experience in high level corporate roles has taught me many things about business and how to manage a team. Yet I found the further up the chain I got the less I was in touch with the customer. Suddenly I was hearing via reports what my clients wanted.

I prefer to be more in touch with the people in businesses because this is where you really feel the impact you make and see the difference.

My team is always expanding and this is a testament to both the service we provide for business and the genuine connections we make with the people behind them.

Being able to transfer all my hard-earned skills and knowledge into a business that supports others is fantastic. Independent businesses that support the local economy are a treasure and we must do everything we can to make them successful.

I do of course love a good old Yorkshire versus Lancashire competition with Andy, but ultimately, businesses everywhere need us. And truthfully- we need them.

If you would like us to look at reducing your own business overheads or would like to help businesses to do so, send us an email.

Ember
Role – Mascot
Location – Wherever they take me

I’m Ember. I love going on client visits when I’m welcome to, especially in the Hospitality sector. The Team think they look after me, but really it’s me that looks after them.
I help Neil’s diet by stealing his food and I chase wasps away because Andy doesn’t like them.

It is true that a dog instinctively knows who they can trust and who the good people are. I’m happy with this lot. You will be too.
